In al-Qur'an in Surat al-Baqarah ayah 255 known as Ayatul-Kursiyy, Allah says: wasi^a kursiyyuhus-samaawaati wal 'ard wa laa ya'uuduhu 7ifdhuhuma wa huwal ^aliyyul ^adheem. What does AL^ALIYY mean? This is 'Tafsir al-Qurtubi'. It is authored by Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Ansari al-Qurtubi, who died in the Hijri year 671 which means 758 years ago. In volume three of the second edition printed by Darul-Kutub al-^ilmiyyah, on page 181 the author explains Ayatul-Kursiyy, he says: "..and what's intended by Al-^aliyy is the high rank and status and not the elevation of place, because Allah is clear from being in a place." I ask Allah to increase our knowledge and Allah knows best.
